About the Company

Our client is an international construction company that is setting up a local presence here in Kuala Lumpur and they are looking for a finance executive that can handle day-to-day finance operations. You will work closely with management to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Prepare and maintain full set of accounts (AP, AR, GL) using accounting software.
  • Record and verify daily transactions, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Handle vendor invoices, staff claims, and payment vouchers.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.

2. Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

  • Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis to management when required.

3. Compliance & Control

  • Ensure all financial records comply with Malaysian accounting standards and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with SST workings, submissions, and simple tax-related documentation.
  • Maintain proper filing and organisation of financial documents for audits and internal reviews.
  • Support internal control improvements and help implement finance SOPs.

4. Payments & Receivables

  • Prepare payment schedules and arrange timely payments to suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and update collection status.
  • Liaise with banks on day-to-day matters, including online banking transactions.

5. Audit & External Liaison

  • Assist in annual external audit, preparing schedules and supporting documents.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and company secretary on finance-related matters.

6. Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with HR, operations, and management to support business decisions with accurate financial data.
  • Provide basic financial guidance to non-finance colleagues when needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 2-4 years of relevant working experience in accounting/finance.

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Experienced with accounting software (e.g. SQL, Xero, AutoCount, or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of responsibility.

  • Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.

Working in a multilingual environment, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders who are more comfortable in Mandarin, will be considered an added advantage.
