About the Company:

Our client is a leading player in the duty-free industry, offering premium products across multiple categories such as luxury goods, beauty, fashion, spirits, and more. With a strong presence globally, they are now expanding into the Malaysian market and seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Legal Executive (Documentation & Custom Compliance) to join our client's Legal Department. This role is focused on managing corporate legal documentation and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. 

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and managing legal documentation, and ensuring the organizations compliance with national and international customs regulations. The ideal candidate will liaise with internal teams, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders to minimize legal risks and ensure smooth import/export operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, shipping documents, trade agreements, NDAs, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure all import/export documentation complies with local and international customs laws, including HS codes, valuation, and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor changes in trade and customs laws, updating internal policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Coordinate with logistics, procurement, and finance teams to verify compliance across the supply chain.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to resolve documentation or compliance issues.
  • Support audits and internal investigations related to trade compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain organized records of legal and customs documents, ensuring traceability and data integrity.
  • Advise management on risk mitigation strategies regarding trade regulations and documentation.
  • Provide training to internal stakeholders on documentation best practices and customs regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Business Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in legal documentation and customs/trade compliance.
  • Knowledge of customs laws, international trade regulations.
  • Strong drafting and document management skills.
  • Familiarity with export control laws (such as EAR, ITAR), if applicable.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and legal documentation software.
