Job Summary:

This position performs skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation. Work is performed and reviewed under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision-making. An incumbent refers most problems to a supervisor and generally all non-routine problems.

Requirement:

  • High School Graduate, Diploma, Bachelor or comparable IT professional experience
  • Minimum 1 to 5 years of experience
  • Must be good in Mandarin/Cantonese - read/write/speaking skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.
  • Follows interpreter protocols as per training, policies, and procedures.
  • Follows all policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
  • Attends all required training.
  • Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge, as required for various clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality as policies.
  • Uses standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Uses MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Edge (or other internet browser).

  • Fluency in Mandarin/Cantonese & English
  • Skilled at communicating, both orally and in writing in Mandarin/Cantonese & English
  • Basic understanding of linguistics and different cultures.
  • Skilled in adjusting to rapidly changing circumstances
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and skilled at exercising initiative within the parameter of company policies and procedures.
  • Skilled at keeping supervisors informed of problems or issues
  • Exceptional commitment to confidentiality
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships
    Uses MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Edge (or other internet browser)
  • Ability to operate competently common office equipment including, but not limited to computer, fax, copier, and telephone system.

    Working hours
    5 days per week (any 2 days off), Permanent night shift, shift allowances provided

  • Annual Leave 10 days for first 2 years, 12 days after completion of 2 years (prorated).
  • Medical Leave as per Labor law - 14 days.
  • Bereavement leave 3 working days in an event of death in the immediate family (Spouse, Children, parents).
  • Maternity Leave for 98 consecutive days for female associate. To start not earlier than 30 days from the expected due date, or post the due date.
