About the Company:

Our client is a leading player in the duty-free industry, offering premium products across multiple categories such as luxury goods, beauty, fashion, spirits, and more. With a strong presence globally, they are now expanding into the Malaysian market and seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Executive (Licensing & Legal) to join the Legal Department. This role focuses on managing company licensing matters and handling legal matters to ensure full regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Job Summary:

The role involves managing and reviewing licensing agreements, supporting compliance efforts, drafting legal documentation, and assisting in a wide range of legal and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in intellectual property or regulatory licensing, legal drafting, and contract management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, distribution agreements, service contracts, and NDAs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable licensing laws and regulations relevant to the industry.
  • Maintain and update records of licensing documents, expirations, and renewals.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external legal counsel on licensing and contract-related matters.
  • Conduct legal research and provide support on regulatory compliance issues.
  • Monitor changes in legislation related to licensing, data protection, IP, and commercial law.
  • Assist in managing IP portfolios, including trademark applications and renewals.
  • Support internal audits, risk assessments, and legal reporting processes.
  • Maintain a contract management system for legal documents and templates.
  • Provide general legal support and administrative assistance to the legal team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent; a diploma in paralegal studies or similar is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in licensing or commercial law.
  • Strong understanding of licensing frameworks and regulatory environments.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management.
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and legal research tools.
  • Prior experience in a regulated industry (e.g. retails, F&B, FMCG will be advantage.
