About the job:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, expanding market presence, and increasing revenue. This role requires a combination of sales expertise, market research skills, strategic thinking, and relationship-building capabilities. The BDM plays a key role in driving company growth through lead generation, client acquisition, and collaboration with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

A. Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve business goals and expand market presence.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies for new products or services.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align business development goals with overall company objectives.

B. Lead Generation & Sales

  • Identify potential clients and key decision-makers through research, networking, cold calls, and other channels.
  • Qualify leads and build a pipeline of prospective clients.
  • Conduct presentations and product/service demos to potential customers.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, quotations, and contract negotiations.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Flexibility is essential to accommodate client schedules and relationship-building opportunities outside regular business hours.

C. Marketing & Branding Support

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • D. Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Serve as the point of contact for key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams (marketing, product development, customer service).
  • May require domestic or international travel, including attendance at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
  • Standard business hours apply; however, the role requires occasional after-hours availability for client engagement activities, such as dinners, networking events, and corporate entertainment.
  • Provide feedback to the marketing team regarding customer needs, product trends, and competition.

E. Reporting & Analysis

  • Track and report on sales performance, market activity, and business development initiatives.
  • Use CRM systems to manage sales data, customer records, and communication history. (as soon as the full and complete CRM system is implemented)
  • Provide regular reports and forecasts to senior management.

General Responsibilities:

  • Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding market presence, and increasing revenue.
  • Uphold strong professionalism, accountability, and results-driven performance in all business development activities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between business development, sales, marketing, and operational functions.
  • Represent the company professionally in all client interactions, meetings, and external events.
  • Maintain a high level of market awareness, including industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
  • Ensure all proposals, negotiations, and agreements are conducted in line with company policies and objectives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to meet business needs, including occasional travel and after-hours engagement.


Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Must have experience in the furniture industry.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Confident, well-presented, and able to build rapport with clients professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and good character.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Willing to work beyond standard business hours when required for client engagement, networking, and events.
  • Willing to travel for business meetings, client visits, and industry events.
