About the job 5G & Connectivity Lead ADAS/Autonomous Systems

Job Title:
5G & Connectivity Expert ADAS/Autonomous Systems | Technical Architecture & Integration Lead

Location: Remote with occasional on-site workshops in Germany

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior technical expert to lead a high-complexity connectivity architecture project focused on 5G slicing, WAN bonding, and ultra-low-latency design for connected and autonomous vehicle fleets. This role includes collaboration with European MNOs and technology vendors to finalize system architecture, define SLAs, author MNO specifications, and steer technical integration.

You will play a critical role in bridging engineering and strategic decision-making across multiple stakeholders in the connected mobility ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design for 5G SA core, RAN, and multi-access edge computing (MEC) systems
  • Define latency and bandwidth budgets for WAN bonding and hybrid connectivity
  • Author and review technical specifications, SLAs, and MNO tender documents
  • Guide integration of modem firmware, QoS policies, WAN bonding strategies, and eSIM (SGP.32) technologies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant automotive and telecom regulations, including UN R-157, ETSI MEC, and EU spectrum rules
  • Advise on vendor selection and roadmap alignment, with active participation in technical reviews and workshops
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable technical requirements for design and implementation teams

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in cellular R&D or telecom engineering, with strong experience in 5G standalone core and RAN architecture
  • Demonstrated hands-on work with ADAS or Level 4 autonomous/remote driving projects
  • Practical experience with:
  • Modem firmware & eSIM (SGP.32)
  • QoS engineering and WAN bonding
  • Low-latency communication architectures
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards:
  • UN Regulation R-157, ETSI MEC, EU/US telecom compliance frameworks
  • Experience contributing to high-benchmark programs in the autonomous or connected vehicle space (e.g., fleet operators, mobility startups, Tier-1 suppliers)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and interface with both technical and executive stakeholders

Engagement Details

  • Start: August 2025
  • Duration: 18 months total
  • First 6 months: High-intensity design, vendor sourcing, and system definition
  • Next 12 months: Execution oversight and advisory, with optional workload ramp-down
  • Work setup: Remote-first, with periodic in-person workshops in Germany
