About the job SAP TM (Transportation Management) – Functional Consultant
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver SAP TM implementations, rollouts, and enhancements (ECC or S/4HANA embedded/standalone).
- Run workshops to gather requirements, map processes, and prepare fit-to-standard / fit-gap analysis.
- Configure SAP TM processes, including:
- Transportation planning & execution (freight units, freight orders, freight bookings)
- Charge calculation/freight settlement and cost distribution
- Carrier selection, tendering, and subcontracting
- Transportation cockpit and planning profiles
- Event management/tracking (where applicable)
- Define and support integrations with SAP S/4HANA / ECC modules such as SD, MM, LE/WM/EWM, and FI/CO.
- Support interface requirements and collaborate with technical teams (PI/PO/CPI integrations, EDI, IDoc, APIs).
- Prepare test strategy and documentation; execute/coordinate SIT/UAT, resolve defects, and support cutover and hypercare.
- Support master data design and governance (business partners, locations, lanes, rates, carrier data).
- Provide user training, process documentation, and production support for TM-related incidents and improvements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, template harmonization, and process standardization initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience as an SAP TM Functional Consultant.
- Strong understanding of transportation and logistics processes (planning, execution, carrier management, freight costing).
- Hands-on SAP TM configuration experience including planning, freight orders, tendering, and settlement.
- Experience integrating SAP TM with S/4HANA / ECC and logistics execution processes.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end logistics flows (order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, warehouse/transport handoffs).
- Ability to translate business needs into functional solutions and clear specifications.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable working with global stakeholders.
- Professional English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Embedded TM in S/4HANA and/or EWM integration.
- Exposure to SAP GTT (Global Track and Trace) or event visibility solutions.
- Experience with SAP Fiori apps for TM and modern UX enablement.
- Knowledge of rate management, complex charge calculation, and dispute processes.
- Experience with carrier connectivity and standards (EDI, SAP BN4L/Ariba, external TMS integrations).
- Background in industries with complex transport networks (retail, manufacturing, 3PL, pharma, automotive).
