Job Summary

For our client, we are looking for Senior Software Engineers with strong expertise in JAVA to join a remote team developing and enhancing mission-critical software systems within the financial services industry.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable applications while collaborating with experienced engineers, architects, and business stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to influence technical decisions and work in a modern Agile environment using best software engineering practices.

You will be part of a long-term team augmentation project supporting a global investment management organization. Depending on your experience and interests, you may join one of the following engineering teams:

Execution Technology

Develop systems responsible for routing, executing, and monitoring trades across global markets, including broker and venue connectivity, order routing, trade lifecycle management, and execution analytics.

Order Management and Analytics

Build and enhance the core Order Management System (OMS), supporting the complete investment order lifecycle-from order creation and compliance checks to routing, execution, allocations, and audit trails. This area requires a strong focus on correctness, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Enterprise Engineering

Develop and maintain shared internal platforms, APIs, CI/CD tooling, and engineering infrastructure that support multiple development teams. The focus is on scalability, reliability, automation, and improving the overall developer experience.

This is a fully remote opportunity offering the chance to work on complex, business-critical systems using modern technologies while collaborating with international engineering teams. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex software solutions from requirements gathering and architecture design to development, testing, and production deployment;
  • Own and drive long-term technical initiatives and architectural improvements across systems;
  • Spotting gaps or unclear requirements early and proactively reaching out to the right teams for answers;
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals;
  • Champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and scalable design patterns;
  • Balancing multiple priorities at once, new features, production issues, support requests, and releases;
  • Operating day-to-day within the project tools, codebase, infrastructure, and processes as part of the project team.

Requirements:

  • 5-7+ years of experience as a software engineer;
  • Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot), Apache Kafka, and microservices architecture;
  • Confidence navigating and contributing to large, unfamiliar codebases;
  • Solid understanding of messaging protocols and data mapping;
  • Financial services background would be considered as advantage;
  • Experience working in regulated or institutional environments;
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar);
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools;
  • Ability to work independently and drive things forward;
  • Exelent communication skills with a proactive, speak-up mindset.

Nice to have:

  • React.js experience is a plus;
  • FIX protocol experience;
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS);
  • Docker/containerisation experience.

Selection Process

Stage 1: CV Screening

Your application will be reviewed within 24 hours of submission.

Stage 2: Pre-Screening

A short Q/A session to assess your experience and technical background. You can choose between:

  • Automated Q/A session (recommended for faster feedback)
  • Recruiter interview

Stage 3: Shortlisting

Candidates whose experience best matches the role will be shortlisted and presented to the hiring manager.

Stage 4: Technical Interview

The technical interview process includes:

  • Technical discussion with the Team Lead (approximately 30 minutes)
  • Live coding session (approximately 60 minutes)

Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

Before the technical interview, candidates will be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), as confidential information about the end client may be discussed during the interview.

To prepare the NDA, we will request the following information:

  • Full name
  • Residential address
  • National identification number (or equivalent identification required by your country)

Stage 5: End Client Interview

Candidates who successfully complete the previous stages will proceed to the end client interview process.

This stage may include one or more interview rounds. The first interview is typically a 60 min. (live coding) + 30 min. soft-skills discussion, focusing on your technical expertise, project experience, system design approach, and problem-solving skills.

Stage 6: Offer and Onboarding

Successful candidates will receive an offer and begin the onboarding process.

As part of the onboarding process, a background verification will be conducted. Candidates will be asked to provide the following documents:

  • Criminal Record Certificate
  • Confirmation that the contractor is not subject to financial sanctions (Financial Sanctions Screening)
  • Copies of educational certificates and diplomas
  • A valid work permit for the country where the contractor resides and works (if applicable)

Once all required documentation has been received and the background verification has been successfully completed, the onboarding process can begin.
