Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Agronomist to oversee and drive the agronomic strategies across our large-scale farming operation. The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in greenhouse farming, proven ability to manage acidic soil conditions, and hands-on experience managing farms of 2,500 hectares or more.

This role requires a strategic thinker who is also operationally hands-on, with strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement agronomic plans for high-value crop production, including greenhouse systems.

  • Provide technical leadership on soil fertility, plant nutrition, and irrigation particularly in acidic soil environments.

  • Manage and advise on the improvement of soil pH through appropriate treatment strategies.

  • Oversee and optimize large-scale farm operations (2,500+ ha), ensuring maximum crop yield and quality.

  • Collaborate with greenhouse managers and crop protection teams to monitor plant health and pest control strategies.

  • Analyze crop performance and production data to inform future planning and operational improvements.

  • Conduct regular field visits to assess plant health, soil conditions, and irrigation efficiency.

  • Train and mentor junior agronomists, farm supervisors, and workers.

  • Maintain strong relationships with input suppliers, research institutions, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in commercial agronomy with at least 5 years in a senior capacity.

  • Proven track record of managing farm operations exceeding 2,500 hectares.

  • Extensive experience with greenhouse farming systems and protected agriculture.

  • Strong understanding of acidic soils, with practical experience in soil amendment and fertility management.

  • Solid knowledge of crop protection, fertilization programs, and integrated pest management (IPM).

  • Familiar with precision agriculture tools and digital farm management platforms.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to relocate or travel frequently as required.
