Position Title: Category Manager Animal Feed

1. JOB PURPOSE:

The Category Manager Animal Feed will be responsible for driving sales, distribution, and business development for the companys animal feed products, primarily soybean meal and poultry concentrate. The role focuses on building the animal feed portfolio across the Republic of Congo, expanding market penetration, strengthening relationships with key partners, and executing channel strategies that align with business objectives.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales & Distribution Management:

  • Own and drive the sales and volume targets for the animal feed category.

  • Develop sales strategies to serve both B2B (large farms, agri-dealers) and B2C (smallholder farmers, co-ops) segments.

  • Ensure consistent availability of products through a robust distribution network originating from our Brazzaville distribution center.

  • Oversee sales forecasting and align supply requirements with the supply chain team to avoid stockouts or overstock.

Channel Development & Expansion:

  • Identify and onboard new wholesale and retail partners across key provinces.

  • Monitor channel performance and optimize margins and pricing strategies.

  • Work closely with field agents and partners to strengthen last-mile delivery.

Market Intelligence & Product Positioning:

  • Conduct regular market visits to assess customer feedback, competitor activity, and pricing trends.

  • Share actionable insights with the supply and marketing teams to improve market fit.

  • Position products competitively by leveraging quality, nutrition value, and price benefits.

Promotions & Marketing Execution:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design farmer-centric promotional campaigns.

  • Support in organizing field demos, distributor workshops, and farmer education initiatives.

  • Measure campaign impact and improve outreach strategies.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key accounts, agri-coops, and rural retailers.

  • Prepare weekly sales reports, market updates, and category performance reviews.

  • Advise management on new growth opportunities and route-to-market improvements.

3. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs):

  • Sales revenue and volume growth (monthly/quarterly/annual)

  • Increase in active retail/distributor footprint

  • Sell-through rates and inventory turnover

  • Customer acquisition and retention

  • Market share within poultry feed segment (where measurable)

  • Execution of planned promotional activities

  • Gross margin improvement per channel

4. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Sciences, Business, or related field.

  • Certification or training in animal nutrition or feed technology is a plus.

Experience:

  • 510 years of sales and distribution experience in FMCG or Agri-inputs, with strong exposure to animal feed or poultry markets in Africa.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in French is required; English and local language skills are a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of animal feed products and livestock farming practices.

  • Familiarity with rural sales models and agri-distribution networks.

  • Competence in MS Office; experience with CRM/sales tracking tools is a plus.
