Job Title: Operations Manager
Position Overview
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the agricultural business, which currently includes a tissue culture laboratory, two nurseries, and a demonstration farm employing around 80 staff members.
The role will be based at the companys headquarters in Moshi.
The business has entered a phase of professionalization and optimization of its processes, with expansion plans into Kenya and other parts of East Africa.
The Operations Manager will be part of the Management Team and, together with the CEO, will form the Executive Team reporting regularly to the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and continuously improve the operational systems across the laboratory, nurseries, and demo farm, including policies, processes, monitoring and reporting frameworks, and organizational planning.

Prepare and implement short- and mid-term operational plans and budgets.

Build, lead, and motivate a team to ensure operational excellence and compliance with company standards for efficiency, quality, environment, health, and safety.

Drive product innovation in collaboration with the Business Development and Laboratory teams.

Stay up to date with the latest agricultural and scientific developments.

Ensure operations are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the agricultural markets and industry.

Foster partnerships with third-party nurseries and other stakeholders in banana-growing and related sectors.

Build and maintain strong relationships with research institutions, authorities, and agricultural organizations.

Promote a high-performance culture with strong employee engagement.

Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Provide quarterly performance reports to the Board, highlighting results, forecasts, and any critical issues.

Support impact-related reporting and communication with stakeholders and partners as required.
Qualifications and Skills

Masters degree (minimum bachelors) in Agriculture or Agronomy.

510 years experience in medium- to large-scale agricultural operations in Africa.

At least 3 years in a senior management or leadership position.

Proficiency with monitoring/reporting systems, track-and-trace tools, and data-driven decision-making.

Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

Ability to analyze complex issues and make sound, timely decisions.

High ethical standards and professional integrity.

Fluency in English (Swahili an advantage).
