Business Analyst Energy Trading

Description

We are currently supporting our client with the Market Dynamics (MD) transformation program, aiming to develop an integrated portfolio optimization function and harmonized risk governance across the energy market. The initiative includes major functional and system transitions, including the reduction of legacy components and the implementation of new platforms like Evolio.

To support this program, the PTT (Portfolio & Trade Lifecycle Technologies) team is looking for an experienced Business Analyst with deep domain knowledge in the energy trading sector. As an external consultant, you will act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment of requirements and delivery of scalable, value-driven software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and document detailed business and functional requirements for trading-related software projects
• Collaborate with stakeholders across business and IT (e.g. traders, managers, developers) to capture and clarify needs
• Create high-quality BRDs, functional specifications, and use cases
• Work closely with development teams to support the implementation of robust and scalable solutions
• Identify process inefficiencies and provide improvement recommendations
• Consult testing strategies to validate requirements and ensure business alignment
• Facilitate communication between technical and business teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Support the Product Owner in backlog management and sprint planning
• Participate in planning sessions, stakeholder reviews, and status meetings

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in the energy trading sector
• Strong understanding of front-to-back trading workflows and supporting platforms
• Excellent documentation and communication skills in English
• Experience working closely with both business stakeholders and software development teams
• Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable specifications
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and backlog management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)
• Proactive mindset, with attention to detail and solution-oriented thinking
