Senior AIX Developer (with German)

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AIX Developer / System Engineer to strengthen our client's IT operations team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and operating IBM AIX-based infrastructures on IBM Power Systems. This includes virtualization, automation, performance tuning, and ensuring secure and reliable operations. The position requires strong collaboration with internal departments and external partners, as well as excellent German language skills for documentation and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and secure AIX system architectures
• Develop Bash, KornShell, and Python scripts to automate system administration
• Integrate new hardware and software into existing AIX environments
• Administer complex AIX production systems, including LPAR/DLPAR and PowerVM management
• Plan and execute system patching, upgrades, and proactive performance optimization
• Conduct incident analysis, troubleshooting, and ITIL-based incident management
• Implement security hardening, backup, and recovery concepts
• Support audits and ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and GDPR
• Collaborate with storage, network, and application teams on cross-functional projects
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and manuals in German

Requirements

• Several years of experience in AIX administration (7.x and higher)
• Strong knowledge of IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, NPIV, and SEA configurations
• Proficiency in shell scripting (KSH, Bash) and automation
• Experience with backup and restore strategies (mksysb, savevg)
• Understanding of SAN and network architectures
• Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and structured incident/problem/change management
• Experience with automated deployment and monitoring tools
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills
• Very good German (C1+) and good English for international collaboration
