Led by seasoned fintech leaders, the team is launching with a greenfield codebase and a transparent, long-term hiring strategy to establish a strong engineering culture from the ground up.
About the Role:
As a Middle Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining critical systems that enable our integrations with banking partners. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work alongside a talented team of engineers focused on creating scalable, reliable, and secure payment infrastructure. Your work will involve developing robust APIs, implementing secure transaction processing systems, and building the platform that facilitates high-volume financial transactions.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and other Engineering teams to ensure our platform solutions align with product requirements and business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feature Development: Implement platform services, APIs, and infrastructure components that support our banking integrations and payment processing systems.
- Integration Support: Build and maintain components of our integrations with financial institutions and payment networks under senior guidance.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established architectural patterns and technical standards.
- System Maintenance: Monitor system health, respond to alerts, and implement fixes to ensure platform reliability and performance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Product, QA, and Senior Engineering team members to deliver features that meet business requirements and user needs.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with fintech technologies and contribute ideas for improving system performance and developer experience.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years in software engineering, with experience building backend systems and working with APIs.
- Technical Foundation: Proficiency in Java and Spring framework, with exposure to containerization technologies. Understanding of RESTful APIs and database fundamentals.
- System Understanding: Basic knowledge of distributed systems concepts, database design, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure preferred).
- Security Awareness: Understanding of security fundamentals and willingness to learn financial services security requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to debug issues, analyze system behavior, and implement solutions with guidance from senior team members.
- Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- AI-Enhanced Development: Demonstrated experience using modern AI coding tools (e.g., Claude 3/Code, GitHub Copilot, Cody, etc.) to accelerate development workflows, improve code quality, and boost productivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to payments, banking, or fintech systems.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of message queues and event-driven patterns.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
