Job Openings Data Scientist

About the job Data Scientist

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team and work on high-impact projects in the fleet maintenance industry. This role is focused on classical statistics, machine learning, and data quality analysis rather than generative AI/LLMs.

You'll work closely with leadership to analyze millions of truck repair records from one of the largest providers in the U.S. The goal is to establish benchmarks for repair times and quality standards, identify inefficiencies, and generate actionable insights that drive operational improvements.

This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about working with large, complex datasets and applying data science to solve real-world industry challenges.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze and clean a large-scale dataset of 14M+ truck repair records.
  • Conduct deep statistical analysis to identify meaningful distributions and benchmarks.
  • Develop models and methods to handle incomplete data (~20% missing).
  • Compare datasets to industry norms and identify inefficiencies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership and operations teams.
  • Document and present findings in a clear, structured way.

What Were Looking For

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or similar role.
  • Strong foundation in classical statistics and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with Python and ability to bring analyses into production. (Not a must, but a plus)
  • Proven experience in data cleaning, validation, and quality checks.
  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or related field) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working with mid-sized companies or trial projects is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and modern AI, though not the main focus.
  • Experience working in fleet, logistics, or similar industries.
