The role

As a member of the Map and Route team, you will join a team which is responsible for how mapping context, routing decisions, and operational constraints translate into reliable, production-grade vehicle behaviour. Specifically, this role will focus on ensuring that developed software is compliant with relevant automotive standards (e.g. ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262) and developing best practices within the wider team to ensure future work remains compliant.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain onboard software for autonomous vehicles, focusing on mapping and routing information.
• Assess existing software and documentation against ASPICE/MISRA requirements, implementing best practices within the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration with the autonomous driving application stack.
• Debug and troubleshoot software issues, ensuring high reliability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high software quality standards.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in embedded systems and autonomous vehicle technology.

About you

In order to set you up for success in this role at Wayve, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Understanding of safety-critical software development and automotive standards (ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262)
• Proven experience in onboarding teams into best practices for compliant software development - e.g. gap assessment, prioritisation, risk assessment, audit preparation.
• Proficiency in the C++ programming language
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Desirable

• Prior experience developing and deploying autonomous vehicle software on commercial automobiles
• Experience in embedded software development, preferably in the automotive or autonomous driving industry.
• Prior experience in mapping and/or route generation.
• Educational Background: A Masters degree or greater in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
