About the job Platform Engineer (GCP)

Platform Engineer (Infrastructure)

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer (Infrastructure-focused) to strengthen and scale its cloud infrastructure as the company continues expanding globally.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role working alongside a Staff-level Platform Engineer. The goal is to reinforce infrastructure redundancy, improve reliability, and prepare the platform for future scalability — including potential cloud integration initiatives.

You will play a critical role in stabilizing and evolving a production environment that supports global agricultural simulations and climate impact modeling.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Own infrastructure reliability in a mission-driven company
  • Operate in a lean, high-ownership environment
  • Contribute to long-term architectural evolution

What Youll Do

Infrastructure Reliability & Stability (~75%)

  • Maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure (GCP-first environment)
  • Strengthen Kubernetes clusters and Terraform-managed systems
  • Support a low-SLA (24-hour) production environment through rotational on-call
  • Improve observability, redundancy, and operational robustness

Platform Evolution & Developer Enablement (~25%)

  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Improve developer experience and internal tooling
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Science teams to support platform needs
  • Partner with Operations on security and compliance initiatives
  • Contribute to infrastructure integration projects (including potential AWS-to-GCP harmonization)

Technical Environment

Cloud Infrastructure

  • GCP (Primary)
  • Minor legacy AWS footprint
  • Potential AWS-to-GCP integration in the future

Core Technologies

  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Python (primary company language)
  • Kafka
  • BigQuery

Ideal Profile

Were looking for someone who:

  • Thinks infrastructure-first and reliability-first
  • Has strong hands-on experience with GCP (or deep cloud experience transferable to GCP)
  • Is comfortable working with Terraform and Kubernetes in production
  • Understands CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
  • Thrives in lean teams with room to grow in ownership

Nice to have:

  • Experience with cloud migration or integration projects
  • Exposure to data-intensive systems

Why This Role Matters

Youll be working on systems that help:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Enable regenerative agriculture at scale
  • Support global food system sustainability

If youre looking for infrastructure work with real-world climate impact — this is it.
