Cost Control Engineer
Job Description:
The Cost Control Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the cost aspects of ongoing construction projects. This role involves evaluating sub-contractor billing, generating various Bills of Materials, and ensuring materials requested are within budget and meet specifications. The Cost Control Engineer will work closely with project engineers, site engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure cost efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. On-Going Projects
Prepare Take-offs: Utilize PlanSwift software to prepare take-offs.
Cutting Lists: Use AutoCAD to prepare detailed cutting lists.
Sub-Contractor Billing: Evaluate sub-contractor billing in coordination with the site engineer, project manager, procurement team, and quality control officer.
Bill of Materials (Project Site): Generate detailed Bill of Materials for the project site.
Bill of Materials (Procurement): Create Bill of Materials for the procurement officer to facilitate material procurement.
Labor and Equipment Hours: Generate labor and equipment hour reports for the project site.
2. Material Requests per Site
Project Discussions: Conduct Zoom meetings with Project Engineers to discuss material needs and project updates.
Computation Evaluation: Assess the accuracy of submitted computations.
Material Specifications: Verify that material specifications conform to drawing plans and standards.
Estimate Verification: For each material request, check if the material is included in the estimate. If included, evaluate whether it is within budget.
Urgent Requests: For urgent material requests, verify computations and material specifications, check if the request is included in the estimate, and ensure it is within budget.
Justification Evaluation: Assess the reasonableness of justifications for urgent requests.
Project Monitoring: Record all requested materials for continuous project monitoring.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Proficiency in PlanSwift and AutoCAD.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing estimates.
Knowledge of construction materials, costs, and industry standards.
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
