Overview
Able & Baker is growing its environment team for a highly stylised 3D feature now in production. We’re looking for talented Junior or Mid Environment Modelling Artists who love building immersive worldsfrom sweeping terrain to dense vegetation setsand enjoy collaborating closely with Surfacing, Layout and Lighting to bring every location to life.
Responsibilities
- Model stylized environments: terrain, architecture, foliage, hero props and set-dressing elements, always mindful of scale, topology and articulation needs.
- Procedural workflows: leverage Houdini (or similar) for scatter systems, terrain generation, vegetation instancing and variation passes.
- Set dressing: arrange and iterate assets to create visually rich, story-driven spaces that support camera and character action.
- Cross-department collaboration: work daily with Surfacing, Layout and Lighting to ensure models meet shading, shot-composition and rendering requirements.
- Quality & optimization: follow naming conventions and efficient geometry that integrates smoothly into the production pipeline.
Required Skills & Experience
- 1 to 3 years production experience in CG feature, series or games (portfolio showing stylized environments essential).
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya
- Foundational knowledge of Houdini for procedural modelling / scattering is a plus.
- Solid grasp of form, composition, modular workflows and UV layout.
- Team-oriented mindset, strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Fluent Spanish; English is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with large-scale vegetation sets and scattering tools (Houdini, SpeedTree, etc.).
- Previous set-dressing work for animation or VFX.
- Familiarity with ZBrush for high-resolution sculpting is a plus.
- Experience with ShotGrid (or similar tracking software) .
Work Model
Remote or on-site hybrid at our Madrid studio will be considered.
