About the job Lead 3D Character Animator
Overview
We are seeking an inspirational Lead 3D Character Animator who can define the acting style, mentor a team of senior and mid animators, and collaborate with the Animation & Rigging Supervisors to deliver world-class performances that elevate the movie’s emotional core.
Responsibilities
Shot leadership: review, notate and sign-off shots; provide both aesthetic and technical direction to a crew of 10-15 animators.
Pipeline partnership: work closely with Rigging, Layout and CFX to anticipate needs, flag bottlenecks, and drive tool/rig improvements.
Mentorship & training: onboard new artists, run dailies, and coach the team on advanced acting choices and body-mechanics.
Cross-department liaison: communicate priorities and blockers to Production;
Quality & schedule ownership: balance artistic excellence with delivery targets, re-planning when scope or story changes occur.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years professional feature or high-end series experience; 2+ years in a lead or senior role.
Mastery of animation principles, acting theory and creature biomechanics.
Expert user of Autodesk Maya; comfortable debugging rigs, constraints and camera staging.
Demonstrated ability to give clear, actionable feedback and nurture talent in a fast-paced production.
Solid understanding of shot-based workflow inside Shotgrid.
Fluent English communication; Spanish a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading animation on stylized CG features.

Our first choice is on-site/Hybrid work at our Gran Canaria studio; We will also consider candidates who can reside on any of the other Canary Islands.
