Position: Senior Budgeting & Cost Estimation Engineer

Job Overview:

A Senior Budgeting & Cost Estimation Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all budgeting and cost estimation activities for our projects, ensuring that they are completed accurately and within the allocated budget. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop cost-effective solutions and provide valuable insights to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring accuracy and completeness

- Conduct detailed cost estimations for all project phases, including materials, labor, and equipment

- Collaborate with project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options

- Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential cost implications

- Monitor project progress and costs, identifying and addressing any variances or discrepancies

- Prepare and present cost reports to senior management and clients

- Provide expert advice and guidance on cost-related matters to project teams

- Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers

- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in market prices to inform cost estimations

- Mentor and train junior team members on budgeting and cost estimation best practices

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in budgeting and cost estimation within the construction industry

- Extensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes

- Strong understanding of project management principles and practices

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

- Proficient in budgeting and cost estimation software and tools

- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Professional certification (e.g. Certified Cost Professional) is a plus
