Bridge Saw Operator

Schedule: 2:30 PM – 1:30 AM, 5–6 days per week Overtime: After 40 hours Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Job Summary

The Main Bridge Saw Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the bridge saw to cut materials according to production schedules. This role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while maximizing material usage and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Environmental, Safety, and Health policies.
  • Adhere to all Quality Management System policies.

Production & Planning

  • Coordinate with the supervisor to prioritize daily work.
  • Verify pallet labels against the production schedule.
  • Use a forklift to pull pallets from staging and load them onto the saw.
  • Develop saw plans to optimize material usage.

Cutting & Verification

  • Confirm all pieces to be cut; report incomplete plans to the supervisor.
  • Enter dimensions into saw controls and cut blanks to final size.
  • Perform dimensional checks (width, length, squareness) and verify piece counts.

Material Handling

  • Move finished pallets to the packaging staging area.
  • Ensure parts are stacked without damage.
  • Sort drops and laminations by type and color‑code them.
  • Weigh laminated material and attach weight tickets.

Documentation & Cleanup

  • Complete the saw log and submit it at the end of each shift.
  • Load saw shavings into the hopper, weigh them, and attach weight tickets.
  • Move shavings and scrap to designated areas.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Clear background.
  • Experience operating industrial saws or similar machinery preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Solid math, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow technical instructions.
  • Forklift proficiency required.
  • Ability to wear a respirator (fit test required; $90 charge).
  • Understanding of machine operation principles.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and dust.
  • Steel‑toe boots required.
