Compensation: $160,000-$200,000 plus equity. Premium benefits package included.

Minimum Experience Required: 8+ years of backend engineering experience.

Lead Backend Innovation at Altela: Altela is on a mission to revolutionize water treatment solutions with the latest software and technologies with $20 million in funding (check us out on Crunchbase!). We're seeking a technical leader to architect our core systems as a Staff Software Engineer.

Your Impact: As a Staff Backend Engineer, you'll define backend architecture and technical strategy. You'll design and implement high-performance, scalable backend systems, leading cross-team initiatives and mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Define backend architecture and technical strategy to support our applications and business goals.

  • Design and implement high-performance, scalable backend systems that ensure reliability and efficiency.

  • Lead cross-team initiatives and mentor other engineers to promote best practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong portfolio of projects that demonstrate your skills.

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and microservices, with expert knowledge of Python, Go, or Java.

  • Strong database design and optimization skills to ensure high performance and reliability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as a technical lead or principal engineer to guide team initiatives and drive technical excellence.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications to showcase your expertise and thought leadership.
