ICT Security Systems Technician
The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation, installation, commissioning and maintenance of CCTV and surveillance systems, access control systems, alarm systems, and fire detection or suppression systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure and commission IP and analogue CCTV cameras, DVRs, NVRs and video management systems.
- Perform cable runs, including coaxial, Cat5e/6 and fibre cabling.
- Install power supplies and camera housings.
- Configure remote viewing, motion detection and recording schedules according to client requirements.
- Conduct regular maintenance, health checks and fault diagnosis on installed systems.
- Install and commission access control panels, proximity readers, biometric readers, smart card readers, electric locks and intercoms.
- Program access levels, user credentials and time schedules on access control software platforms.
- Integrate access control with CCTV and alarm systems where required.
- Troubleshoot and repair existing access control installations.
- Install, program and commission intruder detection and alarm systems.
- Configure alarm zones, partitions, user codes and monitoring or reporting protocols.
- Integrate alarm systems with CCTV, access control and third-party monitoring stations.
- Respond to call-outs and perform fault-finding, repairs and system upgrades.
- Install fire suppression system components, including control panels, detectors, call points, sounders and suppression devices.
- Conduct commissioning, testing and certification of fire detection and suppression installations.
- Collaborate with fire engineers and relevant authorities to ensure compliance and certification.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, testing and servicing of fire systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and system designs.
- Prepare as-built documentation, commissioning reports and handover packs.
- Liaise professionally with clients and provide end-user training.
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite.
- Manage and account for tools, equipment and materials allocated per project.
Requirements
- National Vocational Certificate or equivalent technical qualification in
- Electrical, Electronics or Security Systems.
- Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in the installation and maintenance of CCTV and/or access control systems.
- Minimum 8 years' hands-on experience with alarm system installation and programming.
- Minimum 8 years' hands-on experience with fire detection systems.
- Fire suppression experience will be an advantage.
- Valid Namibian driver's licence.
Preferred Requirements
- Vendor certifications from recognised security systems manufacturers such as Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, Honeywell, Paradox, DSC, Notifier or similar.
- Fire detection or suppression certification or training from a recognised institution.
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary security integration projects.
- Familiarity with IP networking fundamentals as they apply to security systems, including IP addressing, PoE switches and VLANs.
