Job Description (English):

The Third Engineer (3/E) is an operational-level licensed marine engineer responsible for maintaining, operating, and monitoring the ships auxiliary machinery and technical systems. Reporting to the Second Engineer and Chief Engineer, the 3/E ensures that all machinery operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Celebrity Cruises Safety Management System (SMS) and international maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain auxiliary engines, purifiers, compressors, pumps, air-conditioning, and freshwater systems.
  • Supervise the 4th Engineer and Engine Cadets during daily maintenance and machinery operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Record engine room parameters and assist in monitoring fuel, lube oil, and freshwater consumption.
  • Assist the Second Engineer in repairs, overhauls, and scheduled maintenance of main propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Ensure compliance with MARPOL and ISM Code in all engineering operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the engine room environment.
  • Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and pollution prevention activities.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class III (Engine) or equivalent (STCW Regulation III/1).
  • Valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting, ERM, etc.).
  • Minimum 12 months of sea service as 4th Engineer or Engine Cadet.
  • Knowledge of modern marine engineering systems and automation.
  • Proficient in English communication (Marlins or equivalent).
  • Strong teamwork, technical problem-solving, and safety awareness.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience onboard cruise or passenger vessels.
  • Familiarity with marine environmental management and energy efficiency procedures.
