Job Description (English):

The 4th Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and operation of specific machinery and systems onboard under the supervision of the 2nd and Chief Engineer. The position requires strong technical knowledge, teamwork, and adherence to international safety and environmental standards as per the ISM Code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain auxiliary engines, pumps, purifiers, and other machinery assigned by senior engineers.
  • Perform daily checks, log entries, and routine maintenance under the supervision of the 3/E or 2/E.
  • Assist in overhauling and repairing main engine and auxiliary systems as required.
  • Ensure compliance with MARPOL and ISM regulations during all engine room operations.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in maintaining safety standards and documentation.
  • Participate actively in safety drills and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class IV (Engine) or equivalent.
  • Valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety, Engine Room Resource Management, etc.).
  • Minimum of 6 months sea service as Engine Cadet or 4/E on merchant vessels preferred.
  • Good command of English (Marlins Test or equivalent).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
