Job Description (English):
The Third Engineer (3/E) is a vital member of the engine department responsible for maintaining and operating the ships auxiliary machinery and ensuring engine room systems function efficiently. The 3/E reports directly to the 2nd Engineer and supports the Chief Engineer in implementing the vessels maintenance schedule in accordance with the ISM Code and international maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain auxiliary engines, purifiers, compressors, air conditioning, and freshwater systems.
- Supervise and guide the 4th Engineer and Engine Cadets during daily maintenance and machinery operations.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery to ensure operational readiness.
- Record engine room parameters and monitor performance to prevent breakdowns.
- Assist the 2nd Engineer in main engine operations, repairs, and overhauls.
- Ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations and maintain proper documentation of waste management.
- Participate in safety drills, emergency preparedness, and pollution prevention exercises.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class III (Engine) or equivalent.
- Valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting, ERM, etc.).
- Minimum 12 months of sea service as 4/E or Engine Cadet on merchant vessels.
- Good command of English (Marlins Test or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving, technical, and leadership skills.
