Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled First Engineer to assist in managing the engineering and mechanical operationsonboard a container vessel. The First Engineer will work under the Chief Engineer, supervising the engine room crew and overseeing the maintenance and repair of the ships machinery and systems, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Chief Engineer in the overall management of the engine room and technical operations.

Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of the main engine, auxiliary engines, and other ship machinery.

Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the vessels mechanical systems are fully operational.

Implement and oversee the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for all shipboard equipment.

Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company policies regarding engineering and environmental regulations.

Monitor fuel and lubricants consumption, and ensure efficient energy management.

Maintain accurate engine logs, maintenance records, and inventory of spare parts.

Train and supervise the engineering crew, ensuring they follow safety and operational procedures.

Assist in emergency response and engine room drills.

Report to the Chief Engineer on all technical matters, breakdowns, and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

Valid First Engineer License or equivalent certification.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a First Engineer on container vessels.

Strong understanding of marine engineering, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery.

Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and other maritime regulations.

Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).

Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
