Job Description Bar Waiter
Purpose of Position:
- Ensures the efficient operations of beverage services in assigned food and beverage (F&B) areas.
- Creates a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business, contributing to increased revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of an assigned station (25-30 guests) and bars, including coffee stations and sundecks.
- Serve drinks and assist with cocktail preparation, maintaining in-depth knowledge of all Bar Menus.
- Ensure accurate guest billing according to company standards.
- Set up assigned areas following supervisor directions and Vikings Operations Manuals & SOPs.
- Follow service procedures aligned with company policies and public health standards.
- Prepare and operate F&B activities in all outlets, ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Conduct stock takes, inventory checks, and ensure proper storage and par levels.
- Minimize equipment loss/damage and maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Prepare mise-en-place for all areas of responsibility 15 minutes before service.
- Participate in daily team briefings to align with Vikings STAR Service Standards.
- Ensure high comfort levels and sales-oriented service for guests while maintaining impeccable cleanliness.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures.
- Maintain grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Standards.
- Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions.
- Demonstrate flexibility, ability to work under pressure, and a positive attitude.
- Be knowledgeable about ports of call, shore excursions, and shipboard activities.
- Strive to meet departmental quality and financial goals.
- Adhere to safety, security, environmental, and public health policies.
- Participate in onboard training, safety drills, and other duties as assigned.
Qualification (Your Profile)
- Minimum two years of experience as a Bar Waiter or similar position in an international premium brand hospitality and/or bar environment.
- Strong beverage knowledge (wines, spirits, cocktails, etc.).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Physically fit able to carry heavy items, stand, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods.
- Fluent in English excellent communication skills.
- Flexible, stress-resistant, team player with a strong work ethic.
- Guest-focused, service-oriented, with a positive personality.
- Professional appearance and hygiene standards in line with public health policies.
