Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Second Engineer to assist in the maintenance and operation of the ships engine and mechanical systems on a container vessel. The Second Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and First Engineer, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all shipboard machinery in compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the First Engineer and Chief Engineer in overseeing the engine room operations and technical systems.

Supervise the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of propulsion engines, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.

Monitor fuel and lubricant consumption, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Implement and follow the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for all onboard equipment.

Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and other maritime regulations.

Maintain engine logs, maintenance records, and spare parts inventory.

Train and supervise junior engineers and engine crew on safety protocols and operational procedures.

Participate in safety and emergency drills related to the engine room.

Report any technical issues, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements to the First Engineer and Chief Engineer.

Ensure proper waste management and compliance with environmental protection policies.

Requirements:

Valid Second Engineer License or equivalent certification.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Second Engineer on container vessels.

Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and ship stability.

Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and other maritime regulations.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).

Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
