Position: 1st Cook Pastry (Cruise Ship)

Job Summary:
The 1st Cook Pastry is responsible for the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries and desserts served throughout the ship. Working under the guidance of the Pastry Chef or Executive Pastry Chef, this role ensures that all pastry products meet Royal Caribbeans culinary standards in taste, texture, and appearance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake a wide variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, mousses, and other desserts
- Assist in the creation and decoration of showpieces and specialty desserts for events and buffets
- Supervise and assist junior pastry staff in daily operations
- Ensure proper use and care of pastry equipment, mixers, ovens, and tools
- Monitor consistency, quality, and portion control of all pastry products
- Follow strict hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards (HACCP)
- Maintain a clean, organized pastry station at all times
- Communicate effectively with other galley sections to ensure timely service
Qualifications:
- Minimum 23 years of professional pastry experience in a hotel, bakery, or cruise ship
- Formal training or certification in pastry arts or baking is preferred
- Strong skills in classic and modern dessert preparation and presentation
- Creative flair and attention to detail in decorating and plating
- Familiar with food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to communicate in basic English (spoken and written)
- STCW and Food Safety Level II certifications preferred (can be arranged pre-departure)
