Position: Master on commercial vessel Job Description: The Master on commercial vessel is responsible for the overall operation and management of the vessel, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of cargo and passengers. This position requires strong leadership skills, extensive maritime knowledge, and the ability to make quick and effective decisions in high-pressure situations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with all maritime laws and regulations. 2. Manage and coordinate the activities of the crew, including assigning duties and responsibilities, conducting performance evaluations, and providing training and development opportunities. 3. Monitor weather and sea conditions, and make necessary adjustments to the vessel's course and speed to ensure the safety of the crew, passengers, and cargo. 4. Maintain accurate records of the vessel's daily activities, including cargo and passenger manifests, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules. 5. Communicate with port authorities, other vessels, and shore-based personnel to coordinate vessel movements and ensure timely arrival and departure. 6. Manage the vessel's budget and expenses, including fuel, supplies, and maintenance costs. 7. Conduct regular safety drills and ensure that all crew members are familiar with emergency procedures. 8. Ensure that all safety equipment and systems are properly maintained and in good working condition. 9. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices, and implement any necessary changes to ensure compliance. Qualifications: 1. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Master on commercial vessels. 2. Valid Master Mariner license issued by the appropriate governing body. 3. Extensive knowledge of maritime laws and regulations, as well as vessel operations and maintenance. 4. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse crew. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders. 6. Ability to make quick and effective decisions in high-pressure situations. 7. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. 8. Physically fit and able to work long hours in challenging weather conditions. 9. Willingness to travel and spend extended periods of time away from home. 10. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
