Third Officer

Position: Third Officer on Commercial Vessel Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Third Officer to join our team on a commercial vessel. The Third Officer will work closely with the Captain and other officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. This is a crucial role in maintaining the vessel's navigation, safety, and security, and requires excellent communication and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities: - Assist the Captain and other officers in the safe navigation and operation of the vessel - Maintain and update navigational charts, publications, and equipment - Monitor weather and sea conditions and report any changes or hazards to the Captain - Conduct regular safety drills and ensure all crew members are familiar with emergency procedures - Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo and ensure proper stowage and securing - Keep accurate records of all vessel activities, including cargo, crew, and fuel consumption - Perform routine maintenance and inspections of the vessel and its equipment - Monitor and maintain the vessel's stability and trim - Act as a watch officer, standing watch on the bridge and ensuring the safe passage of the vessel - Train and supervise junior officers and crew members in navigation and safety procedures - Assist with the planning and execution of voyage routes and schedules - Communicate with port authorities and other vessels to ensure safe and timely arrival and departure - Adhere to all international maritime laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures - Participate in regular safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices on board. Qualifications: - Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation or related field - Valid Third Officer license and STCW certification - At least 2 years of experience as a Third Officer on a commercial vessel - Strong understanding of navigation, seamanship, and vessel operations - Excellent communication and leadership skills - Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment - Proficient in the use of electronic navigation systems and software - Knowledge of international maritime laws and regulations - Physically fit and able to perform duties in various weather conditions.
