Job Description Bartender
Purpose of Position:
- Supports the Beverage Manager to ensure efficient operations of all bar lounges, bars, restaurants, special events, and all guest areas where beverage services take place.
- Creates a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business, contributing to increased revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the set-up and execution of F&B-related ship functions and special events.
- Accurately tally sales transactions and follow accounting procedures for bar revenue.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all Bar Menus to deliver exceptional service.
- Prepare and serve drinks according to company standards and correct recipes.
- Conduct stock takes, inventory checks, ensure correct storage, and maintain par levels.
- Ensure assigned areas are set up per company SOPs and supervisor directions.
- Follow public health policies, safety, and security procedures.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards and prevent equipment loss/damage.
- Prepare mise-en-place for all responsibilities 15 minutes before service.
- Participate in embarkation duty, including luggage assistance and guest escorting.
- Engage in daily team briefings to ensure adherence to Vikings STAR Service Standards.
- Deliver sales-oriented service while maintaining impeccable hygiene and cleanliness.
- Adhere to PPE safety measures and proper lifting techniques.
- Maintain professional grooming standards.
- Secure company property, especially during rough weather conditions.
- Be flexible and adaptable, working under pressure with a positive attitude.
- Gain knowledge of ports of call, shore excursions, and shipboard activities.
- Work toward achieving quality and financial goals for the Bar Department.
- Assist in other departments and perform additional duties as required by supervisors.
Qualification (Your Profile)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Bartender or similar position in premium brand hospitality and/or bar environment.
- Strong beverage knowledge (wines, spirits, cocktails, etc.).
- Shipboard experience in the Bartender position is required.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Physically fit able to carry heavy items, stand, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods.
- Fluent in English excellent communication skills.
- Flexible, stress-resistant, team player with a strong work ethic.
- Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality.
- Professional appearance and hygiene standards in line with public health policies.
