Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Second Officer to join a container vessel. The Second Officer is responsible for navigational duties, voyage planning, and maintaining ship safety standards while ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Officer in vessel operations and deck crew management.
Take charge of navigational watch, ensuring safe passage planning and execution.
Maintain and update nautical charts, ECDIS, and other navigational equipment.
Monitor weather conditions, route planning, and ship positioning.
Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company policies.
Assist in the supervision of cargo operations, loading/unloading, and stability monitoring.
Conduct safety drills and ensure proper maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of logbooks, reports, and documentation.
Support the Master and Chief Officer in ensuring compliance with port and international regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Master or Chief Officer.
Requirements:
Valid Second Officer (OOW) License or equivalent certification.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Second Officer on container vessels.
Strong knowledge of navigational procedures, ECDIS, and ship stability.
Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and other maritime regulations.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
