Job Description Crew Purser
Purpose of Position:
- Efficiently manages all crew-related financial and administrative matters onboard.
- Ensures compliance with Vikings STAR Service Standards and company regulations.
- Maintains a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to enhance crew satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate completion of crew files, including certifications, travel documents, and personal records.
- Process payroll and onboard crew accounts, including cash advances and ShipMoney transactions.
- Coordinate with Port Agents for crew sign-on and sign-off procedures, ensuring proper documentation for port clearances.
- Arrange crew travel logistics, liaising with Port Agents and Department Heads.
- Prepare and submit end-of-month financial reports and maintain accurate cash floats.
- Assist with immigration and customs clearance processes.
- Manage crew manifests to comply with safety regulations and international travel requirements.
- Maintain crew passports and Seamans Books, ensuring validity and proper documentation.
- Handle signing-on/off processes in MXP, ensuring crew visas and personal information are updated.
- Participate in The Daily Reunion, staying aligned with operational needs.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
- Maintain professional grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Policies.
- Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
- Gain knowledge of itinerary ports, shore excursions, and onboard activities.
- Support achieving Hotel Administration Department financial and quality goals.
- Follow safety and security procedures, participating in fire prevention and evacuation drills.
- Assist in other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualification (Your Profile)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Crew Purser, Crew Manager, Crew Services Manager, or Shipboard Personnel Manager.
- Fluent in English excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of clearance and visa requirements for international waters, crew embarkation, and disembarkation.
- Financial background, particularly in payroll processing and accounting.
- Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in PC-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing systems.
- Flexible, stress-resistant, team player, with a strong work ethic.
- Guest-focused, service-oriented, with a professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards.
- Ability to confidentially handle sensitive communication via written, email, and phone.
