Purpose of Position:

  • Oversees all laundry and dry-cleaning operations, ensuring a smooth daily workflow.
  • Ensures high productivity levels, a safe work environment, and strict adherence to Public Health policies.
  • Maintains a guest-oriented service culture, ensuring guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect laundry areas for cleanliness and safety, ensuring compliance with company policies and health regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain linen inventory, coordinating with the tailor for crew linen upkeep.
  • Ensure linen is properly staged and stored, preventing obstruction of exits, safety equipment, and fire hazards.
  • Maintain inventory levels for laundry chemicals and supplies, submitting weekly requisitions.
  • Oversee the Laundry Teams work schedules, ensuring compliance with Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) and International Labor Organization (ILO) regulations.
  • Lead and motivate a multi-cultural team, fostering productivity, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Meet with team leaders for "The Daily Reunion" to discuss operational updates and service standards.
  • Ensure highest cleanliness standards, aligning with Vikings STAR Service Standards.
  • Implement Public Health policies and maintain cleanliness in all laundry areas.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintain professional grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Policies.
  • Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions.
  • Stay knowledgeable about itinerary ports, shore excursions, and shipboard activities.
  • Support achieving Laundry Department KPIs (quality and financial targets).
  • Follow safety and security procedures, participating in fire prevention and evacuation drills.

Qualification (Your Profile)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Laundry Master or similar role in a premium hospitality environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of shipboard experience is required.
  • Fluent in English strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak additional languages is an advantage.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, with a positive personality and professional appearance.
  • Strong leadership and training skills, with experience in managing multi-cultural teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of stain removal techniques, fabric types, and chemical reactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Public Health policies, inventory control, and chemical handling.
  • Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in PC-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
