Position: Deputy Chief Security Officer (Cruise Ship)

Location: Onboard Cruise Ship (Worldwide Deployment)

Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief Security Officer plays a key leadership role in maintaining the safety and security of passengers, crew, and shipboard assets. Reporting directly to the Chief Security Officer, this position supervises the ships security operations and ensures compliance with international maritime security regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Security Officer in managing all shipboard security operations
  • Monitor access control and surveillance systems
  • Oversee the training, scheduling, and performance of the security team
  • Respond to and investigate onboard incidents, breaches, or emergencies
  • Ensure compliance with ISPS Code, SOLAS, and company protocols
  • Maintain accurate security documentation and reports
  • Coordinate with port authorities and external security forces when required
  • Act as the acting Chief Security Officer in their absence

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in maritime security, law enforcement, or military service
  • Previous cruise ship security experience is an advantage
  • STCW and Designated Security Duties (DSD) certifications required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English (spoken & written)
  • Physically fit and able to work in a multicultural, fast-paced environment

  • Calm under pressure with strong decision-making abilities
  • Experience working in a multicultural team
  • Familiar with incident command and conflict resolution onboard vessels
