Job Description Assistant Stateroom Steward/ess

Purpose of Position:

  • Provides professional, personalized housekeeping services to guests.
  • Maintains high cleanliness standards in guest bathrooms, corridors, and pantries while ensuring outstanding guest service.
  • Contributes to guest satisfaction and repeat business, aligning with Vikings STAR Service Standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning of guest bathrooms, balconies, windows, and furniture.
  • Vacuum and maintain assigned corridors, trolleys, lockers, and pantries, following Public Health Policies.
  • Ensure storage lockers are stocked with linens, towels, cleaning materials, and amenities.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues in assigned areas.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of guest staterooms.
  • Provide ice deliveries, laundry pick-up/delivery, and shoeshine services.
  • Properly handle cleaning products, chemicals, and housekeeping equipment while following sanitary disposal practices.
  • Assist the Stateroom Steward/ess with minibar management during each cruise.
  • Participate in luggage handling duties on embarkation and disembarkation days.
  • Attend daily operational meetings ("The Daily Reunion"), ensuring adherence to Vikings STAR Service Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Public Health Policies and onboard sanitation regulations.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and use proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintain professional grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Policies.
  • Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Support achieving Housekeeping Department KPIs (quality and financial goals).
  • Follow safety and security policies, participating in fire prevention and evacuation drills.

Qualification (Your Profile)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Stateroom Steward/ess or similar role.
  • Previous cruise industry experience is required.
  • Fluent in English strong communication skills to interact with English-speaking guests.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, with a professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Proven knowledge of Public Health and Sanitary Policies.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. (30 kg) and stand/walk for long periods.
  • Flexible, stress-resistant, team player, with a strong work ethic.
