Position: 1st Cook (Cruise Ship)

Job Summary:
The 1st Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in assigned sections of the galley, ensuring consistency, hygiene, and adherence to Royal Caribbeans culinary standards. This role requires strong culinary skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals according to the days menu and recipe standards
- Supervise and assist junior cooks and utility galley staff in assigned section
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a timely, organized, and visually appealing manner
- Monitor food temperatures, portion control, and station cleanliness
- Follow proper food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures (HACCP standards)
- Coordinate with the Sous Chef and Chef de Partie for daily operations and menu planning
- Report any equipment malfunction or inventory shortage
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas
Qualifications:
- Minimum 23 years of cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen (4-5 star hotel, restaurant, or cruise ship preferred)
- Culinary certificate or relevant training in food production
- Knowledge of international cuisine, plating, and kitchen operations
- Familiar with food safety standards (HACCP)
- Physically fit and able to work long hours in a hot, fast-paced kitchen
- Able to communicate in basic English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- STCW and Food Safety Level II certifications preferred (can be arranged pre-departure)
