Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Bosun (Boatswain) to supervise and lead the deck crew on a container vessel. The Bosun will be responsible for overseeing deck maintenance, cargo operations, and safety procedures, ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and in compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the deck crew (ABs & OSs) in daily maintenance and operational tasks.

Oversee cargo operations, including lashing, securing, and container handling procedures.

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of deck equipment, mooring lines, winches, and safety gear.

Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company safety policies.

Lead and participate in mooring, anchoring, and deck operations during port arrivals and departures.

Assist in conducting safety drills, emergency response training, and firefighting procedures.

Maintain inventory of ropes, paints, tools, and deck supplies, reporting to the Chief Officer.

Train and mentor junior deck crew members in safe working practices and operational procedures.

Ensure proper cleanliness and upkeep of the ships deck and exterior areas.

Report any deck-related issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Chief Officer.

Requirements:

Valid STCW certification and required maritime training.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Bosun on container vessels.

Strong knowledge of deck operations, cargo handling, and mooring procedures.

Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other maritime regulations.

Good leadership and team management skills.

Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding environment.

Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.

Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
