Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Cook to join a container vessel. The Chief Cook will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals for the crew, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety in compliance with maritime regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and prepare nutritious and well-balanced meals for the crew according to dietary needs and cultural preferences.

Ensure hygiene and cleanliness in the galley, food storage areas, and kitchen equipment.

Maintain inventory control of food supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.

Follow budgetary guidelines and assist in food procurement planning.

Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company food safety regulations.

Adhere to sanitation, food handling, and storage procedures to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.

Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs.

Supervise and train any assistant cooks or messmen on kitchen duties and hygiene practices.

Assist in emergency drills and maintain safety protocols in the galley area.

Prepare special meals for crew members with dietary restrictions when required.

Requirements:

Valid STCW certification and relevant maritime training.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chief Cook on container vessels or similar ships.

Strong knowledge of menu planning, food safety, and hygiene standards.

Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other maritime regulations.

Ability to manage food supplies and budget efficiently.

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Good communication skills and ability to work in an international crew environment.

Fluent in English (basic proficiency for maritime communication).

Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
