Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and responsible Second Officer (2/O) to join our container vessels. The Second Officer is primarily responsible for voyage planning, navigation, and maintaining navigational equipment, ensuring safe and efficient vessel operations under the supervision of the Chief Officer and Master.

Responsibilities

  • Stand navigational watch and ensure safe passage of the vessel.
  • Prepare and update voyage plans, charts, ECDIS, and navigational publications.
  • Maintain and calibrate navigational instruments and bridge equipment.
  • Supervise safety drills, life-saving appliances, and firefighting equipment checks.
  • Assist Chief Officer in cargo operations and stability management.
  • Maintain official logbooks, records, and voyage documentation.
  • Provide guidance to junior officers and deck cadets.

Qualifications

  • Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) and Certificate of Proficiency (COP) under STCW 2010 Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch / Chief Mate (Reg. II/1, II/2 as applicable).
  • Basic Safety Training (A-VI/1), Advanced Fire Fighting (A-VI/3), Medical First Aid (A-VI/4-1), Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (A-VI/2-1).
  • Valid Medical Certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).
  • Previous sea service experience as Third Officer or equivalent.
  • Proficient in navigation systems, voyage planning, and bridge resource management.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good command of English for maritime operations (Marlins or equivalent preferred).
  • Physically fit and capable of performing officer duties at sea.
