Job Description (English):

The Second Engineer (2/E) is the executive officer in charge of the engine departments daily operation and maintenance. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, the 2/E supervises all engineering personnel, ensures machinery efficiency, and maintains compliance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and MARPOL regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all engine room machinery and systems.
• Manage daily engine room operations and assign duties to 3/E, 4/E, and Engine Cadets.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for main and auxiliary machinery.
• Supervise bunkering operations and ensure compliance with pollution prevention standards.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in monitoring spare parts, inventories, and requisitions.
• Maintain technical documentation, engine logbooks, and PMS records.
• Conduct and lead engine room safety drills and emergency preparedness training.
• Act as the Chief Engineers deputy in their absence.

Qualifications:

• Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class II (Engine) or equivalent.
• Valid STCW certificates (Advanced Firefighting, ERM, High Voltage, etc.).
• Minimum of 1218 months of sea service as 3/E or equivalent position.
• Excellent technical knowledge of marine propulsion and auxiliary systems.
• Good English proficiency (Marlins Test or equivalent).
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
