Job Description (English):
The Third Officer (3/O) is an operational-level licensed deck officer responsible for bridge watchkeeping, navigational duties, and safety equipment maintenance onboard Celebrity Cruises modern fleet. Reporting to the Second Officer and Chief Officer, the Third Officer ensures safe navigation, compliance with international maritime regulations, and the highest safety standards in line with Celebrity Cruises Safety Management System (SMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Stand navigational and port watches, ensuring safe and efficient vessel operation under COLREGs and company policies.
- Monitor and operate bridge equipment, including radar, ECDIS, gyro, and GMDSS systems.
- Assist in voyage planning, chart corrections, and updating navigational publications.
- Inspect, maintain, and record the condition of lifesaving appliances (LSA) and firefighting equipment (FFE).
- Maintain navigational records, bridge logs, and reports in accordance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code requirements.
- Participate in safety drills, emergency response duties, and environmental protection initiatives.
- Support deck maintenance operations and supervise deck ratings as required.
- Uphold Celebrity Cruises brand standards for safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class III Deck or equivalent (STCW Regulation II/1).
- Valid STCW certificates (Advanced Firefighting, GMDSS, BRM, etc.).
- Minimum of 612 months of sea service as Deck Cadet or Third Officer.
- Solid knowledge of ECDIS operation and navigational procedures.
- Proficient in English (Marlins or equivalent assessment).
- Professional demeanor with strong teamwork and leadership potential.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous cruise or passenger ship experience.
- Familiarity with modern navigational systems and bridge resource management.
