About the job CDL-A Company Driver - Recent Grads
Most companies want a year of experience. We want drivers who just finished CDL school and are ready to work. Here's how your first two months would go.
We're hiring around Del Valle, Bastrop, Manor, Elgin and southeast Austin.
Week 1
A recruiter calls and goes over your license and record. Then you head to orientation, 2 days at most. Your lodging is paid, your bus ticket is reimbursed, and those 2 days are worth $300 once you're hired.
Weeks 2 to 6
You drive with a mentor for 3 to 5 weeks, about 200–250 hours. You back into docks, plan trips and keep your logs until it all feels routine. Every week, $850 lands in your account.
Week 7 and on
You get your own truck, a Freightliner about 1.5 years old on average, automatic or 10-speed. For your first 3 months solo, your check doesn't drop below $1,000 a week.
Then it settles into a routine
You run a regional fleet out of Houston, mostly Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas and the Mid-South, with some runs up to Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. That's 1,700–2,000 miles a week of drop and hook, preloads and live loads. You're home every 2 weeks.
