Research & Operations Office (Food technology)

The Role

• We are looking for a Research & Operations Officer (35 years experience) to join a fast-
• growing biotech startup environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong
• laboratory background who is eager to go beyond routine lab work and play a hands-on role in
• shaping both research and operations.
• Youll work on a diverse mix of activities from bench research and product development to
• process optimisation and scaling production. Beyond technical work, youll gain exposure to
• cross-functional operations and contribute to building the foundations of a high-impact science-
• driven business.
• This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a lean and collaborative
• environment, and wants to see their work translate directly into real-world applications.

What Youll Do

• Drive day-to-day activities across research, product development, and operations.
• Perform cell culture and molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, RT-qPCR) for product testing and validation.
• Support new product development and help optimise workflows through experimentation and literature research.
• Contribute to SOP development, process improvements, and ensure compliance with ISO and GMP standards.
• Analyse data, prepare reports, and document activities aligned with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Manage inventory, consumables procurement, and shipping logistics.
• Work closely with leadership to scale research and operations infrastructure, bringing your own ideas and solutions to the table.

What Were Looking For

• Bachelors degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Food Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• 3-5 years experience in lab operations or production within biotech, food testing, or lifesciences.
• Hands-on wet-lab experience and familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or GMP standards.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Curious, proactive, and adaptable,  comfortable wearing multiple hats in a startup setting.
