About the job (Pinewood) Early Years Physical Education Teacher, Part-time
Overview of the Position
Pinewood seeks a dynamic and experienced Physical Education Teacher to start on September 1, 2023. We are looking for a teacher to teach our PreK and Kindergarten students and who exhibits care and understanding of very young children and their physical / social-emotional needs and development. The ideal candidate will implement child-centered approaches to teaching and learning and work cooperatively with students, parents, and colleagues to create and support an inclusive, individualized learning environment.
Scope of the Position
The PE teacher reports directly to the Principal and works closely with colleagues, students and parents.
Responsibilities
Embrace the mission, vision and philosophy of the school
Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children and aligned with the PYP framework
Teach daily lessons in a developmentally appropriate manner
Implement AERO and/or other approved standards in course design and delivery Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach preschool children
Collaborate with teachers to connect PE to units taught in the classroom Supervise students in the classroom and during recess/lunch/school activities to ensure safety and good order
Monitor student development and progress
Submit grades and written comments promptly as required by the Principals Communicate with students and parents regarding student progress and feedback Make time during the school day for student and/or parent conferences Attend weekly and monthly faculty meetings as called by the Head of School / Principals Chaperone special school activities on a rotational basis
Participate in professional development activities throughout the year
Participate in evening sessions for parent/teacher conferences
Participate in the faculty appraisal system as designated by the Head of School and Principal
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood Physical Education
Valid teaching certification/license relevant to the position
Native or near speaker of English
Interest, initiative and drive to develop modern approaches to curriculum, teaching, and learning at the preschool / early elementary levels
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Experience working with students whose first language is not English and/or in an international school environment will be considered a strong advantage
