Overview

An established manufacturing operation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair, maintain, and troubleshoot production machinery and mechanical systems.

This role requires a valid Journeyman card and hands-on experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic presses. The successful candidate will support plant operations by diagnosing issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment reliability and safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Observe machinery in operation to diagnose mechanical issues

  • Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective components

  • Inspect and assess parts for wear, defects, and dimensional changes

  • Repair or replace mechanical and electrical components

  • Adjust and calibrate functional parts and control instruments

  • Install structural and functional components as required

  • Lubricate, clean, and maintain equipment

  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance

  • Operate metalworking tools including lathe, drill press, and grinder to fabricate or repair parts

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic presses

  • Initiate purchase orders for required parts and equipment

  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with safety standards


Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school OR

  • 6–12 months of related experience and/or training

  • Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience considered

Journeyman card is required.


Technical Skills

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting capability

  • Experience repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Ability to repair electrical equipment

  • Familiarity with engines, motors, conveyor systems, and production machinery

  • Ability to use metalworking tools

  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, internet research for parts/manuals)


Core Competencies

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance manuals, and operating instructions

  • Solid mathematical skills (basic arithmetic, ratios, percentages)

  • Strong practical reasoning and problem-solving skills

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Regular use of hands and arms for handling tools and equipment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

  • Visual requirements include close vision, colour vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment


Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts

  • Occasional exposure to heights, chemicals, electrical systems, and vibration

  • Moderate noise levels
