Actuary Expert

Our client is a reputable insurance company with a significant presence in the Bulgaria market, member of an established insurance group operating in the CEE region.

As an Actuary Expert, you will support the company's life and health insurance business through actuarial modelling, risk assessment, technical provisions, pricing, and profitability analysis. You will provide actuarial insights to support business decisions, regulatory compliance, and sustainable portfolio development.

Main responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models for life and health insurance products.
• Prepare actuarial valuations and provide input into financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term business planning.
• Monitor, assess, and report on the development of insurance risks by analyzing trends in mortality, morbidity, claims experience, persistency, and other key actuarial assumptions.
• Calculate technical provisions and prepare the related actuarial reports.
• Perform regular pricing analyses and recommend pricing adjustments to ensure product competitiveness and sustainability.
• Analyze the profitability of the life insurance portfolio and identify key performance drivers and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, Solvency II, IFRS 17, and internal actuarial standards and methodologies.
• Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Finance, Risk Management, and Product Development teams to support business and strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the implementation of enhancements to actuarial tools and systems.
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory submissions, and actuarial governance activities.

Desired experience, skills and qualifications:

• University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
• Proven experience in an actuarial role within the insurance or consultancy sectors
• Good understanding of actuarial principles, insurance mathematics, and risk modelling
• Experience with pricing, reserving, or financial modelling
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with actuarial software
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Fluency in both English and Bulgarian (oral and written)

Considered an advantage:

• Experience in life and/or health insurance
• Knowledge of Solvency II and IFRS 17
• Experience with SQL, Python, R, or VBA
